The LKT English Department is comprised of a team of dedicated teachers who aim to challenge developing minds and build rapport with students to facilitate their English learning. We fervently believe that strong English skills are essential for success in school and beyond. Our goal is to provide rich, creative and enjoyable learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom.

Engaging English lessons
To establish a solid foundation in the four language skills, we design a rigorous curriculum tailored to our students’ needs. We have developed stimulating English games and school-based materials. With the aid of technology, students could sharpen their language skills and become more proficient in their use of English for study, work, leisure and personal enrichment.

Using English in authentic settings
To boost speaking confidence, students host English Time and English-on-Air in the morning and afternoon assemblies, sharing interesting topics and songs with their peers. In addition, annual inter-class competitions, such as the Spelling Bee, Choral Speaking Competition and Scrabble Competition are organised to allow students to become more competent English users. 
 

Our signature award scheme, ‘EASE’, is designed to encourage students to speak English outside the classroom. Students earn stamps by sharing their thoughts on set topics with their English teachers or participating in designated activities. These stamps can then be redeemed for prizes at the end of each month.

Global Awareness & Cultural Appreciation
In the hope of instilling in students a lifelong appreciation for English and global cultures, we hold Global Awareness Week annually, inviting speakers from various nationalities to share insights about their home countries. Many students bubble over with excitement while interacting with the guest speakers and show curiosity about the cultures of the world!
