Music lessons systematically cultivate students’ expressive skills and self-confidence through tiered project-based learning and public performances. Each student completes a singer research project and performs a representative song while introducing the chosen artist to classmates. Through information gathering and peer exchange, students achieve our education objectives of confident self-expression and effective interpersonal communication.
Last academic year, our school choir coordinated the joint choir performance for the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Joint Schools Speech Day. Through cross‑school collaboration and rehearsals, students’ discipline, choral skills and stage experience were developed. Despite limited rehearsal time and a typhoon that forced one joint rehearsal to be cancelled, partner schools’ teachers and students proactively recorded score annotations and cooperated closely. Our students also made rapid progress in a short period. Together they delivered an outstanding performance of nearly 150 singers. This experience not only enhanced students’ musical abilities and teamwork, but also demonstrated our practice‑based approach to music education, using challenges to promote growth. During rehearsals, we strengthened the bonds between students and teachers, enriching our singing and performance.
The Visual Arts curriculum is designed to help students develop aesthetic sensitivity and artistic literacy. It comprises four core objectives: cultivating creativity and imagination, developing skills and processes, fostering art criticism skills, and understanding arts in context. By integrating Chinese and Western traditions with modern art and merging visual arts appreciation with visual arts making, the curriculum guides students in expressing thoughts and emotions through art. This approach helps students broaden their sensory experiences, cultivate a commitment to long-term learning, and build positive values, while providing a solid foundation for those aspiring to pursue careers in the creative industries.
