Careers Committee Introduction

1.    Purpose:

    Career planning is a continuous and lifelong process that helps students achieve different goals at various stages of life. During the school years, career planning education is a pivotal element of holistic development. The goals include cultivating students' self-awareness, personal planning, goal-setting, reflection, and revision abilities, as well as understanding various pathways to further education, employment, training, professional ethics, and workplace information. Through career planning education, we hope that students at our school can:

·    Understand themselves and affirm their abilities.

·    Understand the values, attitudes, and skills for future learning and the workplace.

·    Have a sense of hope and purpose for the future.

·    Adopt an open attitude and curiosity to explore multiple pathways.

·    Make reasonable choices

 

2.      Work Objectives (2024 -2025):

      Provide students with information on further studies and employment through visits, exchanges, lectures, counseling, and online platforms to achieve the following goals: I. Students understand their interests and strengths, planning for future studies and careers. II. Students develop the habit of actively seeking information on further studies, enhancing their positive thinking and sense of purpose for the future, increasing their learning motivation, and thus improving their academic performance to increase their chances of further studies. III. Broaden students' horizons, deepen their understanding of various working environments, and understand the values of life and work to help them choose careers that suit their talents and interests.

 

3.    Key Tasks for Each Grade:

·    Form 1 and Form 2: Adapt to secondary school life, initiate career planning, build career planning routes through activities, self-awareness, understand their identities, set goals, explore and develop personal interests.

·    Form 3: Implement personal goals, start with subject selection, understand their abilities and have a basic understanding of various industries, and plan for the future through subject selection.

·    Form 4 and 5: Set further study goals, understand diverse further study pathways, explore career interests, understand the working world, and deeply understand personal interests and aptitudes to enhance individual competitiveness.

o  Main Activities: "My Career Planning Journey" Online Learning System, Higher Education/ Mainland China/ Taiwan/ Overseas Study Talks, Interview Skills and Career Planning Training Workshops, Senior Secondary Workplace Experience, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals My Way Joint School Career Planning Activity Day, Further Study and Career Counseling Day, Senior Secondary Students Summer Internship Program

 

·    Form 6: Set further study and career goals through activities and lectures, enhance confidence in taking public exams, and introduce different further study pathways to enable students to take appropriate further study and job-hunting actions.

o  Main Activities: JUPAS (Joint University Programmes Admissions System) Talk, Multiple Pathways Introduction Talk, Sub-degree, Higher Diploma, Mainland Study Talks, Joint School Interview Skills Workshop, DSE (Diploma of Secondary Education) Result Release Counseling, Individual Counseling Program for Senior Secondary Students, Mainland Summer Internship Program for Form 6 Graduates

 

4.      School-wide Initiatives:

·    Strengthen students' further study and career counseling, incorporating elements of career planning into various subject curricula.

·    Assist students in applying for scholarships, grants, and academic progress awards.

·    Counseling Series: We offer various programs such as the "Career Planning Counseling Program," "Senior Secondary Student Counseling," and "Career Interest and Personality Type Tests." These help students understand what makes a good worker, including their characteristics, interests, attitudes, and abilities. We also help students with their questions about further studies and jobs. For those who need extra help, we talk with them individually to understand their learning problems and help them improve their study habits and interest in learning.
